1. Choose an egg you can afford to lose
Leave an empty nest at home and choose a mount whose current jump and speed handle the entrance. Rehearse the outward route, crater approach and return. A route learned without an egg is safer to repeat once the carry warning appears.
Keep ordinary Volcanic Egg collection separate from this experiment: finding an egg in the lair and applying Magma at the crater are different goals. If you cannot finish the return reliably, complete a normal hatch instead.
2. Reach the crater and read the result
GamerNom’s footage, linked by the walkthrough, shows the entrance at 0:15, descent at 0:46, pickup at 1:04, a failed crater attempt at 1:44 and a successful attempt at 3:43. These are video chapters, not coordinates or a guarantee that the current server has the same layout.
Approach with the carried egg and follow the live interaction prompt. Check the trait/result message immediately. Do not repeat an attempt on the assumption that a second try is available.
3. Resolve the timer before exploring again
Community revision 657 reports one attempt per egg: 15% success with +8 seconds, or failure with −5 seconds. The walkthrough labels a successful video result as +12 seconds. The discrepancy remains open; neither value is a safe substitute for the actual countdown.
Turn toward your prepared return as soon as you see the result. If the timer no longer covers the exit, do not add another detour or experiment. Log the visible gain/loss and outcome in your route note so the next decision uses your own evidence.
4. Check the hatched trait before keeping it
Revision 657 reports a 10× Magma trait, while the sources disagree about coexistence with weather traits. Check the hatch card and compare it to your current ride. This page does not promise a particular species or combine multipliers.
Take this into your next session.
Practice first, read the crater result and make the return your immediate next action.
