How to Get Pets in Ride A Pet: From Egg to Useful Hatch

Get your first pet

The documented way to obtain pets is to find eggs around the map and hatch them. Player walkthroughs describe carrying an egg back to your plot before its break timer expires, placing it in an empty nest, then checking the resulting pet. Finding a rare-looking egg alone does not add a pet to your collection.

Prepare the destination before the search

Locate your plot and an available nest first. Learn a short path from a nearby landmark to that nest before picking up an egg. A beginner benefits more from completing a close return than from identifying a distant egg without knowing how to bring it home.

Use the current interaction prompt for pickup and nest placement. The official game supports desktop, console, mobile and tablet, so a keyboard instruction cannot describe every player’s controls. Watch the timer shown in your own session rather than adopting an exact duration from an old video.

Compare the hatch before replacing your mount

Check speed, jump and income individually. A faster pet with lower jump can improve flat returns while making a climb less convenient. A pet with stronger income may deserve a different role from the one you ride around the map.

The base cards illustrate this tradeoff: Elephant has 1.02K speed and 75 jump, while Chicken has 553 speed and 92 jump. Elephant wins that speed comparison but loses the jump comparison. Use the values on your owned pets to choose, because age and upgrades may change the result.

Do not turn a hatch goal into an invented recipe

A named pet target is useful for motivation, but the documented egg catalog does not connect each egg to an exclusive pet pool. Continue the find-and-hatch loop without assuming that an animal’s appearance identifies its egg. Record actual outcomes if you are investigating a particular egg.

Why did finding an egg not give me a pet?

The collection loop continues after discovery: return the egg, place it in a nest and complete its hatch. A failed return does not complete that cycle.

Should I discard every slower pet?

Compare jump, income and progression needs first. Horse is part of the documented first-rebirth requirement even if another pet becomes your main ride.
